Two-time champion of Asia commented on her victory in this nomination in an interview to the official KFB website.
- I would like to thank the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation for the support it provides, says Dariga Shakimova, - We will keep trying to meet the expectations of the federation, coaches and fans as well. It's a privilege for us to defend the honor of the country at the international arena. The main thing is that our flag to be raised high and the national anthem to be played more often.

- How unexpected was this victory for you?
- Yes, it was quite unexpected. I should also mention Zhaina Shekerbekova who is worthy of this award as well. I also should name Nazym Kyzaibay despite the fact that this year was not the best for her. It’s just because it should take time for her to show herself in this weight which is new for her. There are many more girls in the team who approved themselves this year.

- Can you say that the year 2015 was successful for you?
- I can say that those tasks which were set by the coaches were accomplished. The past year was successful for me. The main start of the next year is the world championship in Astana. Before that I need to show myself in the tournament in Kazakhstan. I will try to get in shape and show myself to the best advantage. Quite soon we will have general physical training sessions in the Almaty region. So we will train.

- Do you set only the maximum target at the world championship?
- Yes, only gold! I watch my main rivals. There is an American world champion among them, champions of Europe and of Olympic Games. I would also like to mention the Russian representative. Well, I have the strongest opponents.

- Do you have a desire to participate in the Olympics too?
- This desire is just overwhelming! I need to work and not to stop at the achieved. I have themost ambitious goals in boxing to which I'm going to aspire. Thanks again to everyone who has supported me this year!
