Astana is assembling the women’s national boxing team since March, 9. Sportswomen from the capital team help the national team. The training finishes on March, 22 but not the whole team is going to celebrate Nauryz with their families. Three female athletes – Nazym Kyzaibay, Nazym Ishchanova and Dariga Shakimova, straight from Astana will leave for China for the Olympic licenses.
The senior coach Vadim Prisyazhnyuk says on the daily routine at the training camp:
- They get up at half past seven in the morning, then there’s forming-up, physical exercises, breakfast. The first training session is at 10:30 am. It can be jogging or working with a trainer at the gym. Usually the team also plays football, basketball and does swimming. But at this training camp we decided to exclude the team games so they will not have a risk to get injured before the responsible competition. From 4:30 pm there’s training in pairs or with a punch ball.
Training in pairs is a few rounds with one-minute breaks. The intensity and tension are growing every day. On the first days they fight for 4-6 rounds, then 8, 10 and in the middle of the training in the training camp they have already 12 two-minute bouts. Then the load is being gradually reduced. Years of training and strict discipline have made real fighters from the girls and not every man can be compared with them. Female athletes of the lightest weight category have impact force about 160 kilograms, and those who are heavier have more than 200. They can make about 10 such strikes every two seconds.
During one workout a female athlete burns about a thousand kilocalories, during a day - up to four thousand. The ration is made up respectively. The meals in boxing are 4-5 times a day, varied and in large portions. Nutritionists make them eat about 150 grams of protein per day. Of the meat dishes they prefer national kazy and zhaya, almost every day there is fish and red caviar on the menu, also there is room for fruit, juices, nuts and chocolate.
The personal trainers say that after an exhausting day everyone is just too tired for cultural entertainment. Basically, after dinner they are in bed surfing the Internet with smartphones in their hands.
The contenders for the Olympic licenses are training thoroughly and for a long time for the tournament in China. Together with the trainers they examined the fighting records of all potential rivals in detail. Now Nazym and Dariga are ready, cold-blooded and concentrated. After the tournament in China the team will have a training in the World Academy of Boxing in April and then again in Astana in May.
