Female boxers won seven medals at the Cup of Nations

In Serbian city of Ruma there finished a traditional Cup of Nations - a major international tournament, which for the fifth time opens the year of women's boxing of all age categories.

In 2016 the representatives of 34 countries from all five Continental Confederations AIBA participated in the Cup of Nations. There were 256 competing girls - 44 juniors, 63 athletes of the youth category and 162 adults. For the elite division of women's boxing the 2016 Cup became an excellent occasion to test their physical condition and to assess the strength of rivals before the World Cup, which opens this year in Astana on May 19.

Kazakhstan was represented by 17 female athletes including 12 adults and they were all members of the national team. Among adults the gold was won by Yulduz Mamatkulova who in the final fighted with Indian female boxer Rani Mina. Madina Nurshayeva (64 kg) got a silver and Nazym Kyzaibay (51 kg) got a bronze and lost to a Chinese athlete Chang Yuan.

Among young people the silver medal was won by Aidana Tuzenova (69 kg), bronze won by Lyaila Kusainova (69 kg). The junior Pakizat Serikbai (46 kg) won a silver for the team and Zhamilya Bolat (63 kg) won the bronze. As a result, our team took the fifth place with seven medals. The top three consists of Russia (14 gold medals), India (4 gold medals) and China (two gold medals).
